5 Things To Check Before Choosing A Castor Oil Pack

1. How The Oil Was Pressed
Castor oil comes from castor seeds, and there are more than one way to extract it.
Cold-pressing squeezes the seeds while keeping the temperature low. Other methods use higher heat, or a chemical solvent such as hexane, to pull more oil out of the seeds.1
So look for 2 things on the label: “cold-pressed” and “hexane-free”.

2. What The Bottle Is Made Of
Like most plant oils, castor oil keeps best away from heat and direct sunlight.
That’s why the bottle matters almost as much as the oil.
Dark glass blocks light, while a clear bottle lets it straight in.
Thankfully, ours comes in a 4 fl oz amber glass bottle. Store it somewhere cool and shaded, and a sealed bottle stays good for about 2 years.
A pack stays on for at least an hour, and many women wear theirs overnight. So the fabric touching your skin deserves a close look.
Check what the inner layer is made of and whether it’s been bleached. If a listing only says “soft fabric” and stops there, ask before you order.

This is the check most people skip, but it’s the one you’ll notice on the first night.
